![]() ![]() ![]() My first attempt to automate this workflow led me to think of automation within Excel itself (given the formatting required) and I decided on a combination of VBA (to move data into the right place and copy headers across as per the template) and paste format from the template (to add the colours, merge cells, and other text formatting). Step 2 Method 1 – With VBA and Alteryx Designer: Using command prompt tools to get Alteryx to open Excel and run VBA ![]() Both methods used a formatted template file, albeit in slightly different ways. I ended up doing this in 2 different ways. Step 2 – Format the Excel output file in a way that clients were used to seeing the output (more human-friendly than machine-friendly, with formatted tables and printable onto an A4 sheet). For 200-250 clients (output files) and 240 different combinations of rankings, Alteryx Designer was able to complete this task in 10-15 minutes on my laptop. ![]()
